Providing Trust & Safety Through Pre-Moderation On..?

Project Snippet

Sellers list ads on dubizzle which go live without former screening or filtering. This has caused scam and spam to increase on the platform. Listings -at the time- only went through moderation after they have gone live, which gives scammers time and loopholes to get their ads on the website before they are taken down.

Preparing for pre-moderation entailed getting ready for new technical modules from an experience perspective - which required changes across the flow of posting an ad, UX and UI wise.

  • UI design

Design Approach

To gain a comprehensive understanding of the impacted flows and pages, we analyzed the ad posting processes across all C2C verticals, such as classifieds, motors, and property.

We began by mapping out all ad posting flows, identifying key problem areas, and prioritizing them for immediate action. This led to a thorough overhaul of the "Place An Ad" flow, where we standardized the UI and significantly reduced Dubizzle’s UX debt.

Once the flows were clear, the team decided to unify the fragmented processes, which involved consolidating and simplifying the ad posting flows that were scattered across different backend URLs. This made it easier and faster to introduce pre-moderation. Meanwhile, the design team focused on aligning the UI across these screens, addressing inconsistencies to create a more cohesive experience.
